Let us pray that we accept the cross of Christ.

Almighty and merciful God, we thank you for bringing life to us through the death of your Son. We thank you for his willingness to suffer under Pontius Pilate, Be crucified, dead and buried, only to rise again on the third day. Teach us to boast about nothing but the cross of Christ, and be willing to suffer gladly for his sake. For he lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
Amen.
